Maplestone's Jacen JT(OTIS), grandfather of Diana and DD and grand-grandfather of many puppies born in "de Altamira" kennel is almost 13 years old and he is still in very good condition. Jayme Evans, his owner, must be very happy and I wish her to have Otis near her for many other years!

With my training and eventual degree in veterinarian medicine, along with my real love and respect for the Chinese Shar-Pei, I've decided to build a breeding program here in Bucharest, striving to always produce ‘quality', not ‘quantity.
Late last year, came in our kennel another exceptional girl named Cavalier King Samurai's Diana. She is daughter of RJCh.Maplestone's Budapest Boy and grand-daughter of well known Ch.Maplestone's Jacen JT. No matter she is still young, Diana won a lot of wonderful titles.She is now Romanian Junior Champion and Central-Eastern European Junior Champion
And last but not least is Don't Ya Just de Altamira, our bred girl that I hope to confirm in shows her qualities. She was already shown in 3 shows and she got "very promising" in Baby Class.
All of my dogs, current and future, will be raised with care and love. Puppies will not be placed in their new homes until 8-10 weeks of age with full guarantees on health. All prospective buyers must be approved and I will never sell to pet shops or commercial breeding farms, known in the U.S.A. as ‘puppy mills'. I do not expect success to come easy or quickly but I will always do what is best for this wonderful, charming, intelligent and endearing breed. It wasn't long before Saba had a new ‘friend', a beautiful fawn brushcoat female from the King Samurai's Kennel in Hungary. Her name is RJCh. Cavalier King Samurai's Ildiko. In English, I call her Ildi.
In the early part of 2004, I went looking for a mature male. Because the Shar-Pei is unfortunately plagued with numerous genetic defects, it was important to me to find one which was healthy as well as sound. After careful consideration, I choose to purchase Epic's Am I Blue from Chi-Kuan Kennels in Montgomery, Texas, USA. ‘Sami', as he is called, is an Isabella brushcoat; Isabella is a fawn-blue color often found in the blue lines when a blue Shar-Pei is bred to a fawn. Not only is Sami the only known Isabella in Romania but he carries OFA hips which are Excellent but OFA Normal elbows, OFA Normal knees and he's OFA certified clear of thyroid abnormalities. Sami Is also CERF certified for non-defective eyes.
At the same time I decided to bring Sami to Bucharest , I fell in love with a fawn female from the same kennel which I discovered was also for sale. Not only is ‘Cleo', a fawn brushcoat, an American Champion but she is the daughter of two triple champions, Ch. BluGrass Friendly Wager (OFA certified hips, elbows, knees, thyroid and CERF eyes) and Champion Chi-Kuan's Baaad Fur Ewe (OFA hips, elbows, knees and thyroid and CERF certified eyes). Cleo will be joining Sami in the late summer of 2005, following her last American litter sired by her father, Wager. I would like to sincerely thank Mrs. Ellana L (Clarke) Lambert for agreeing to part with Sami and Cleo so I can continue the breeding program she has worked over 25 years to develop.
